Child safety

PennyCrew is used by children, so we keep their data to a minimum and keep parents in control.

Parents are in charge

Only a parent, or a partner the owner has allowed, can add a kid, reset their PIN or remove them. Rewards, spending requests and paid chores need an adult's approval.

No email or phone for kids

Kids sign in with the family code, their name and a PIN. PINs are stored as a one-way hash, and after repeated wrong PINs sign-in is locked for a while.

Private to your family

Family data is only reachable by active members of that family, and each kid can only reach their own records, never a brother's or sister's.

No ads for kids, no strangers

Kids never see ads: not on their own phone and not in kid mode. There is no chat, no public profile and no way to contact people outside your family. Adults on the Free plan may see non-personalised ads.

Photos stay private

Chore photos and pictures are stored privately and shown only to your family through links that expire after a short time.

Quiet notifications

Parents choose whether kids' notifications show amounts, and every member can turn notification types off.

Shared devices supported

A kid can use a parent's phone in kid mode. Leaving kid mode needs the adult's fingerprint, face or passcode, and the kid only sees their own things.

Easy to leave

A parent can export the family's data or delete the family at any time. Kids' PINs are deleted when their profile is removed.
